Primary Prevention
The Breast Cancer Fund’s State of the Evidence: The Connection Between Breast Cancer and the Environment 2010 report was released October 1st, 2010. Primary prevention is the practice of avoiding the causes of a disease in order to prevent getting it in the first place. Not nearly enough attention has been paid to primary prevention of cancer, but we do know some things you can do to reduce the chance that you will develop cancer during your lifetime. Primary prevention also entails looking at other economic, social, and environmental factors to disease. This is where individuals can look at how breast cancer is not just the ‘burden’ of the individual, but entails the choices made by corporations, regulators, and various levels of local government.

Secondary Prevention
