Be Informed
Receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer can be life shattering; fraught with anxiety and fear. Some women have experienced overpowering emotions accompanied with shock which they felt hampered their ability to be receptive to information related to their diagnosis or treatment options. Some refer to this period as the ‘numb & dumb’ stage.
Women have different preferences and ways of coping during a major life transition such as breast cancer. To navigate this intense time, a woman can access several forms of support to regain a semblance of control and confidence so that she can make the informed decisions throughout her selected path of care.
Ideally, when a woman is diagnosed she should have one individual to help navigate her care path. This is a preference that women have expressed.
However, what we can do is provide a guide of resources that will assist you in knowing where to find the crucial information you need it and as you need it so you can help guide your OWN care path.
